“Borders” has been ranked as a finalist in the Arte Laguna Prize, the world’s most influential competition for artists of all ages, nationalities, and artistic backgrounds.
The competition, open to a free theme, showcases the works of participants, building a network of international contacts and opening up new opportunities for growth.
The starting point is entirely personal: the propensity to consider the borders non-existent.
As far as I’m concerned, the world is an infinite and continuous stretch of the universe that gradually changes without really differentiating itself so much as to draw a clear line of any kind, and that the only border is the limit that man wants to give himself.
The photographic work is presented as an installation with a central LED-backlit photobox, controlled by a remote control, and two pedestals with two objects on top (the series includes eight triptychs) taken from one side of the border and the other.
The photo submitted for the competition was taken between Sardinia and Corsica in the Strait of Bonifacio. Between the two nations, there isn’t even the 12+12 nautical miles distance, which by convention is the stretch of sea belonging to each state. On the pedestal, ampoules of water taken from Corsica and Sardinia.
